Hey everyone! I'm looking to grow some lavender in my garden here in Western North Carolina, which I think falls under zone 6b. I would love any advice, tricks, or even book recommendations for successfully growing lavender in this area. I know I need to mix soil with sand, but any additional insights would be greatly appreciated!

Are you close to any lakes? That might affect soil drainage. I live near Wilmington, and I’ve got clay mostly. If you have sandy soil, that’s great! Mixing it properly should help your lavender flourish. Just keep an eye on how much water it gets. Enjoy your gardening!

If you're in zone 6b, lavender should thrive given the right conditions! Mixing your soil with sand is definitely a solid plan, as lavender prefers well-draining soil. Just make sure to avoid overwatering, as lavender doesn't like wet feet. Might also consider adding some gravel for extra drainage. Books like "The Lavender Lover's Handbook" are great for tips specific to growing lavender. Good luck with your planting!
