I'm a newbie gardener trying to keep costs down, and my bell pepper seedlings are thriving in 6-cell trays. When it's time to move them to larger pots, I'm wondering if I can use the bottom halves of gallon milk jugs for this purpose. Also, is it okay to put two plants in the same jug?

Using milk jugs can work if you make sure to add drainage holes. However, I recommend putting only one plant per jug because they’ll be there temporarily. It’s better to avoid tangled roots since you’ll have to up-pot them again soon.
I’d go with solo cups instead! Just poke a few holes in the bottom for drainage. I tried using solo cups for some struggling pepper plants last year, and it really made a difference! They ended up being the strongest plants I’ve grown!
Pro tip: Stack several cups together and use a drill or a long nail to punch all the holes at once—it saves time!
