I've just started my first garden, and I'm facing a frustrating issue: my cat keeps pooping in it! I've got 11 tomato plants, 8 pumpkin plants, and even 1 watermelon plant (though 5 others didn't make it). I know we can't eat anything from the garden this year because of the cat poop, but will it be safe to use next year? I'm looking for advice from anyone who's dealt with a similar situation.

You can try putting plastic forks in the ground with the tines facing up around your garden. It seems to work to deter cats from doing their business there. But remember, just because the cat poops doesn't mean you have to toss all your plants!
Don't stress too much! Just clean up the poop when you see it, and your garden will be fine. Over time, it's likely that all kinds of creatures have left their mark in your garden. Just maintain it, and you'll be good to go!
Actually, cat poop isn't the end of the world for your veggies! Lots of folks garden with various types of manure, and while you shouldn't rely on carnivores as fertilizer, a little cat poop here and there won't ruin everything. Just keep an eye on it, and you should be fine!
