Should I Worry About Ants in My Garden Beds?

I have some raised garden beds filled with red ants and a few acrobat ants that hang around the wood. I know the acrobat ants can sting, and while I've never been bitten by the red ants, I'm a bit concerned. Right now, I'm trying to dig up my beds, but I feel guilty disturbing their nests, especially with their babies present. I wonder if these ants help protect my plants from pests or if I should take action. What have you all done about ants in your garden?

I say no way—ants can be harmful! They chewed holes in my hostas, and it's a mess. Keep an eye on them!
