Hey everyone! I'm Welsh and I've recently started carving Celtic love spoons in the evenings while I chill on the sofa with my wife. The only downside is the mess it creates. I'm looking for tips on how to manage all the shavings and bits that come from carving. Any advice?

If you're sitting down on the couch, try putting a pillowcase or an old shirt on your lap. It'll catch a lot of the mess. You could also invest in one of those small handheld vacuums for those tiny bits that might fall around the edges.
I like to carve over a shoebox or something similar. It collects most of the shavings, and I keep a small vacuum handy for anything that misses the box. It's super handy, especially for tougher woods like cherry or oak because I can save the shavings for smoking meat later!
I just use a wide, deep basket on my lap and tuck a pillowcase or towel into my shirt to catch the shavings. Might look a bit silly, but it catches about 90% of everything! Makes clean-up way simpler after I'm done carving.

That sounds like a good plan! I'll have to try that out myself.
