Hey everyone, I'm a newbie seeking advice on baby-proofing my 2-year-old's room. I'm trying to secure the furniture to the wall, but I've run into a potential problem. I have the right hardware and a helpful picture of the room from before the drywall was put up, which shows the studs and the electrical wires. The only place I can drill into the stud happens to cross right where the electrical wire runs horizontally. The screws I have are two inches long, so I'm worried that I might hit the wire while drilling. Does anyone have suggestions on how to secure the furniture safely without interfering with the wiring? Just to clarify, because of the room layout, I can't choose a different spot for mounting.

You could consider using an earthquake strap instead. This would give you more flexibility on where to drill into the stud while still securing the furniture safely. Just adjust the strap a couple of inches up or down from where you initially planned to drill.
Have you thought about using stick-on furniture anchors? There are options like Tip Not which have high weight limits. They avoid the need to drill altogether and might be a perfect solution for your situation!
If you want to avoid drilling into the stud entirely, why not attach the furniture to the baseboard instead? You could use shorter screws in a few spots to distribute the weight and keep everything secure. I've had success doing this with my kids' furniture without any issues!

I haven’t seen those before, but it sounds promising! Thanks for the tip!
