I'm considering whether I should upgrade my battery bank to 120VDC and find an inverter to convert it to 120VAC for my off-grid house. However, from my research, I've noticed that inverters for this setup seem harder to find, and they generally have lower output compared to the standard 48VDC to 120VAC inverters. Is pursuing this 120VDC route a good idea, or are there better options I should consider?

If you're contemplating going with 120VDC, you might want to think about going even higher, like in the 400VDC range. Moving up in voltage can definitely improve efficiency and reduce wiring costs. That said, options for inverters and chargers become limited. Plus, safety is a big concern. Just make sure to handle it with care, similar to how you would with 120VAC. Also, check out some threads on DIY Solar Forum; there’s some good info on high voltage setups there!
