My mom built a planter out of bricks next to our house, but it's mostly in the shade due to a nearby building blocking the sun. It only gets about an hour or two of sunlight, and the sprinklers keep the area pretty wet. We're in zone 8b, so I'm wondering what plants we could put there that would thrive in those conditions.

Ferns and hostas could be great options for that area! Hostas, in particular, are pretty adaptable and do well in shady spots.
You might want to consider planting fuchsias or hydrangeas, although I’m not sure if the constant moisture will be too much for them. It's important to choose plants that can handle wet feet!
Yeah, moisture is a concern for me too! But I figured it’s worth a shot since my mom is really set on using the planter.

I love hostas! Thanks for the suggestion!
