We just moved into our new house this winter, and now that summer is here, we've noticed a serious issue with bees and wasps around our property. They keep banging into our windows and even get inside when we open the door for too long. It's making it tough to enjoy our yard work or relax outdoors. We're in North Carolina, so bugs are a given, but the sheer number of these insects is overwhelming. Our yard is overrun with weeds, which I'm planning to get rid of this fall, but I'm wondering if there's anything else that might be attracting these pests. Since I'm currently pregnant, I'm especially anxious about how we'll manage outdoor time with the baby next year. Any advice on repelling these wasps would be really appreciated!

To tackle the bee problem, start by removing those weeds and any flowers they might be drawn to for pollination. Regularly mowing the lawn helps create a less attractive environment for them. For wasps, you may need to go a step further and eliminate any nests nearby.

You don’t have to worry about removing the weeds entirely; just keeping them mowed will help. As for wasps, they dislike competition, so hanging a paper bag near your door could encourage them to steer clear. Also, try to shift your mindset a bit; seeing a few wasps might feel more alarming than it is!
