Hey everyone! I've been dealing with a stinky sink and a leaking toilet for a while now. It started a couple of years ago when my upstairs toilet began leaking onto the ceiling below. I also noticed a strong sulfur smell coming from the sink, especially in the mornings. I replaced the wax toilet seal, and while it didn't completely solve the smell issue, cleaning the sink's P-trap did help a bit. However, the problems have come back at the same time, and I'm worried something might be connected. We DIY this stuff because we can't get a plumber for a week. Do I need to replace the toilet seal again? Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like your drains might be sharing a common line. If both the toilet and sink are giving you trouble, the issue could be a clog in the pipe where they connect or even a venting problem. It’s possible the toilet seal is leaking, and you may want to replace it, especially if it hasn't been changed in a while. If the seal is broken, that’s definitely a reason for the leak. Keep an eye on it!

Thanks for the explanation! I just want to be sure that the sink trap could cause a leak below the toilet. I appreciate your input!
