I'm working on redoing the roof of an outbuilding and found some rotting rafters (check out the pics [here](https://imgur.com/a/cHm1kXV)). What's the best way to tackle this? Should I just sister a new 2x6 on one side over the 2-3 feet of rot to support new plywood sheathing? Should I also cut out the rotten wood and laminate a new piece into the cavity? What are the best practices for sistering rafters?

If you can, consider removing the rot entirely and replacing it with a new rafter of the same dimensions. Given the rot issue, you might want to go with pressure-treated wood for durability.
Since you've got good access, just replace the whole rafter instead of trying to make do. It’ll save you trouble down the line!
I'd suggest making sure everything is dry first, then sistering over as long a span as possible on that rafter. It’s pretty much the go-to advice I’ve seen for situations like this.
