What Are These Uncapped PVC Pipes I Found in My Basement?

I found some uncapped PVC pipes while stripping down my house for renovations, and I'm curious about their purpose. They were hidden under plywood and a floor tile. I plan to consult my plumber, but I'd love to hear what others think about it first. Here's a picture for reference: [link](https://imgur.com/a/4bzSeW1).

It's a good idea to keep any open flames away from those pipes until your plumber checks them out. They might not be a problem, but it’s better to be safe. Do you notice any odors coming from them? Also, how old is your house?

Since you mentioned that the house is likely from the 60s and these pipes are in the basement, they might have been part of an old plumbing setup that was updated in the 90s when you switched from a septic system to municipal sewer. Just make sure you tell your plumber about their condition.
