What Type of Jointer Am I Looking At in This Video?

I came across a video where it seems like the wood is being passed under the bed of a jointer. I've never seen anything like this before, and I'm curious about what this type of jointer is called and what the purpose of that operation might be. If anyone can explain, I'd really appreciate it!

I had the same reaction! I was a bit confused at first, too. Just shows how many different tools are out there; it’s always interesting to learn something new!

It looks like a combination jointer and planer to me! This setup isn’t too crazy; it allows you to pass the wood under the cutter head for thicknessing and above it for jointing. Pretty neat, right?
