I recently painted two walls of my house with S.W. Weathershield, spending about $300. We're aiming for a modern look with dark paint and cedar trim. The shade is called "Caviar," which we've already used on some interior doors and a coffee bar, so we know we like it. However, on the exterior, it looks almost black and loses its green tint that we love indoors. Now I'm unsure if dark-painted houses are still stylish and if I should continue with this look or reconsider.

Going with dark paint like that might raise your energy costs since it can be tougher to keep cool. But honestly, don't just follow what's currently 'in style.' Trends shift every decade, and keeping up can get pricey. It's better to choose what you love, regardless of trends!
It seems like dark houses aren't really trendy anymore. They were somewhat popular about five years ago, but now they might come off as a weird fad. If you're going for a modern look, make sure your house's design supports it, or it could look tacky, especially with older homes.
