Looking to Replace My Wooden Deck: Any Suggestions on Composite Options?

Asked By SunnyDayz211 On

I'm in the process of figuring out what to do with my wooden deck since it's really starting to show its age and needs replacing soon. I've come across Trex Composite decking, which I understand is a brand. Can anyone share their experiences with it or offer insights into composite decking in general? I'm curious if it's truly more durable and requires less maintenance compared to wood. I'd appreciate any thoughts or recommendations!

Trex does make a great product, but keep in mind it can get pretty pricey. The cost is definitely something to consider when planning your project!

Right? Everything seems to be so expensive these days—it really makes home ownership a challenge!

I've had Trex for a while now, and I'm pretty happy with it! Just a tip: think about what you'll use for the substructure. If you go with wood, it might wear out just as quickly as your old deck. Trex does have a steel substructure option, but it was a bit too pricey for me. I ended up using wood but added their RainEscape product, which has not only protected my joists but also made my underdeck area waterproof and more usable.

If you're looking for alternatives, TimberTech (Azek) is another top-notch choice for composite decking. Definitely worth checking out!
