I mounted my TV in the bedroom last year using toggle bolts, but now I've noticed it's not secure. So, I took the TV down, and I'm looking for better ways to remount it. My current idea is to cut into the wall, place a 3/4" plywood behind the drywall, screw it to the stud, cover it with new drywall, repaint, and then hang the TV. Is this a solid plan? Also, are toggle bolts still a reliable option, or should I consider a different approach? I usually use toggle bolts because I struggle securing things without them ripping out of the wall.

Why not just mount directly to a stud? You can use an adjustable mount that works around the stud’s location if it’s not exactly where you need it. Just let us know the size and weight of your TV, and we can help you find the right setup!
I agree with the others—buy a sturdy TV mount and secure it with lag bolts into the studs. That way, you won't have to worry about it falling; it's way more secure than toggle bolts.
Honestly, there's no need to cut into the wall. Just bolt a 1x6 board across at least two studs, then mount your TV bracket to that. It'll be super secure! Plus, you can paint the board to match your wall, so it won’t look out of place.
