I'm building a 6 x 8 gravel foundation for a 4 x 6 shed, and I've read that 3/4" crushed gravel is recommended. However, since I live in a mountain town, I can't find any locally. The only gravel I can get is 1"-minus from a concrete supplier nearby. Is it alright to use this 1"-minus gravel instead?

Yes, you can use 1"-minus gravel, but make sure to compact it properly. It's best to use a plate compactor and do it in 3-4" layers for a stable base. Also, consider laying down filter fabric before adding the gravel for better durability.

Thanks for the tip! I actually have a hand tamper; do you think that's enough, or should I definitely rent a plate compactor?
