Is CNC Machining Considered Handmade?

I've been thinking about whether CNC machines really count as making something 'handmade'. They offer amazing precision and cut without errors, but I feel like they take away that personal touch from projects. I'm curious to hear what others think about it!

I think if we're talking about 'handmade', it usually means no machines involved. 'Handcrafted' can include tools like CNC machines, though. So, by strict definition, CNC isn't handmade since it’s a machine doing the work.

Exactly, when you look up 'handmade', it literally says it's made by hand, not by machine. So, CNC doesn’t fit that description. However, it's still super useful for getting precise cuts!

For sure! But I get the argument that if you programmed the CNC and did the setup, there's still a lot of your effort involved. It might change how we think about those terms!
