I'm looking for advice on adding ferrules to the battery cable terminations inside my EG4 18K inverter. Since this is a one-time project, I'm hoping to find a cost-effective crimper that works well. I think I need 2/0 ferrules, but I'm open to corrections. I've seen some videos discussing issues with stranded cables loosening and the need for regular retorquing, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. Also, I used to appreciate how the Solark inverter had provisions for terminal lugs on the cables; it's just a more reliable setup. What do you think?

It's surprising there isn't a product designed specifically for the EG4 18K that allows for terminal lugs. Most Victron models I've looked at have a shared plate that accommodates paired cables. It seems like a straightforward solution that would definitely simplify things!
You'll find that ferrules of that size usually require hydraulic crimpers, which can be pretty pricey. I suggest checking out local electricians or hydraulic hose shops; they often have the right tools and might help you out without breaking the bank. Just make sure to bring your cable with you!
That's a good idea! I wouldn't have thought of a hydraulic hose shop for that. Do they typically do 2/0 ferrules?
Yeah, I'm curious about that too! If they can do it, that'd be awesome.

Right? Terminal lugs are just more reliable overall compared to ferrules. They should have gone that route!
