Hey everyone! I'm not really handy and could use some help. I've got some cracked vinyl siding that needs replacing, but it's in a tricky area. The builders left some siding behind, which is great, but I'm not sure how to approach this. The cracked piece runs the entire length of the window and is just above the bottom edge, attached the whole way. I was thinking about cutting it and sliding in a replacement piece, but I'm worried it'll become loose since the nail strip might be obstructed by the window. On the other hand, I really don't want to have to cut a whole new 10-foot section just to fix this! Any tips would be super helpful!

It sounds like you're in a bit of a pickle! If the area under the window is small, cutting a new piece to fit could work as long as you can secure it properly. You might want to confirm if that channel is aluminum; having that info makes a difference for locking everything in. A zoomed-out pic would help us see more of it, too!

Just wanted to add, if the trim is plastic, you should be able to use some adhesive to secure that new piece. Just make sure to check for any overlapping edges where the new and old sections meet!
