What’s the Best Caulk for Sealing Baseboards and a Shower Head?

Hey everyone! I'm a fairly new homeowner and I've been noticing some cracks appearing around my baseboards and near the doors in the living room and kitchen. I think insects are getting in through these gaps, so I want to seal them up. I'm heading to Walmart or Home Depot soon and I'm wondering, what's the best type of caulk to use for ceramic, wood-look tile floors? Also, I need to seal the base of my shower head—what's the proper caulking for that too? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You're definitely on the right track! For sealing those cracks around your baseboards, especially with ceramic floors, look for a paintable latex or acrylic latex caulk that’s made for interior use, ideally with mold and mildew resistance. Products like DAP Alex Plus or GE Paintable Silicone Caulk are solid choices—they're flexible and easy to clean up. Just ensure the area is clean and dry before application. For the shower, the part you're talking about is likely the escutcheon plate. For that, use a 100% waterproof silicone caulk like GE Silicone II Kitchen & Bath or DAP Kwik Seal Plus; they’re both mildew resistant and meant for wet areas. Make sure to seal it well to keep moisture where it belongs!

This is perfect! I actually bought the products you suggested after reading your reply. I had no idea what those were called! Just need to grab a caulk gun now before I start. I’ve heard some guns can drip, so I’ll definitely check reviews for that. Thanks a ton!
