How Can I Get Rid of Flies in My Raised Garden Bed?

Asked By GreenThumb84 On

I've noticed there are these little black flies buzzing around my raised garden bed, and the water smells a bit off. I usually drain the water regularly, but I was out of town for a week, and now it seems like the flies have multiplied. Thankfully, my plants are still healthy. What can I do to tackle this fly issue?

It sounds like you're dealing with stagnant water in your raised bed, which might be attracting those flies. They’re likely fungus gnats. Make sure your bed has proper drainage so that water doesn’t accumulate. Check if there are any drainage holes at the bottom that might need to be opened up or cleared. If your bed has a plug, try unplugging it and see if that helps!

Thanks for the suggestion! I already unplugged the drainage hole, so I’m hopeful that it works.
