I've really been struggling with gardening. Whenever I think about it, I just feel sad because I've had such a hard time keeping plants alive. My mom used to have this amazing garden back when I was a teenager, which made me long for a green thumb of my own. Unfortunately, most of my attempts have ended in disappointment. I've successfully grown a few tiny sprouts from seeds like Lavender and Aster, but nothing came of them. I even ended up growing mushrooms in one of my flower pots! I work at a plant store now and dream of having my own little garden, but I just can't shake the fear of failing again. I've given succulents too much sun, drowned a mint plant, and even let a potted rose bush die after a year of growth. I stopped trying because I felt like it was a waste of time and money. But I really want to give it another shot, I just don't know how to start or how to let go of that fear of failure. I even have some lotus seeds but am nervous to try those too!

Don't worry, I've been in the same boat! It took tons of trial and error for me too, but now I'm much better at it. I avoid starting from seeds and just get established potted plants instead. It might cost a bit more, but it’s so much easier! I’ve had great success with forgiving plants like iris, daffodils, and daisies. Just find ones that work with your sunlight and space!
Starting with sensitive plants can be tough, so consider trying heartier ones that are easier to maintain. And remember, it's totally normal for plants to die—that's just part of learning how to garden. I'd recommend looking into lilies since they're more forgiving! Just check if they're safe if you have pets around, though.
What kind of space are you gardening in? Are you using pots or planting directly in the ground? I can help you find plants that are perfect for your conditions.
I'm located in Oklahoma, so the weather can be really unpredictable. For pots, I typically go for ceramic or terracotta since I dislike plastic. I have both full southern sun and some shady spots, so I’m curious if shade plants can survive those conditions!
Hey, don't beat yourself up! A lot of successful gardeners have had their share of fails at first. My first garden was a disaster! Now, I have this thriving indoor garden, and while I still lose a few plants here and there, it’s all part of the process. If you’re really keen on gardening again, think of it as a journey filled with curiosity. It’s okay if things don’t work out perfectly; that's how you learn. I’d be happy to give you some beginner-friendly plant recommendations based on your space! Let me know where you want to garden and how much care you can give!

I would consider it, but my cat loves to chew on plants. I haven’t seen her do it with anything besides grass lately, so I'm a bit worried!
