Is It Safe to Buy Discounted Trex Decking That’s Been Stored Outdoors?

I'm thinking about purchasing some Trex decking that has been kept outdoors and exposed to the elements for more than two years. A few boards aren't perfectly straight and show a bit of bending. The deal is tempting since I can get them at 50% off the Home Depot price. My deck is 20 x 24 feet and raised over 8 feet high. Should I worry about the condition of these boards, and is this a good deal for replacing my old wood decking?

Considering the nature of decking, 50% off sounds like a solid deal! Trex is made for the outdoors, and even though the boards have been exposed for two years, they're designed to handle it. As long as the boards you’re looking at aren't severely warped, they should do just fine. Just keep in mind that you might need to look into matching colors if you decide to add more down the line.

The risk seems pretty low here. My Trex came stored outdoors too, and it held up well. Just make sure the boards look decent and are mostly straight; they should last you a long time. Plus, Trex doesn’t rot like regular wood, so you’re not likely to run into major issues.

I say go for it! The slight bending isn't a huge deal since Trex boards are pretty flexible. A good pressure wash and some time in the sun should work wonders. I've had my Trex boards stored outside for ages, and after some time, they blend right in with the new ones. Just inspect them closely before you buy!
