Is Gluing Wood Without Joints Strong Enough for Tabletops?

I've been wondering whether gluing wood without using joints like tongue and groove is strong enough for making tabletops, panels, or even larger boards. I hear mixed opinions on this. Thanks for your thoughts!

Totally, as long as the joints are clean and well-fitted! I've rarely seen a glue joint fail—usually, it’s due to things like the wrong glue for oily woods or working in damp conditions. I’ve also used dowels for ease of alignment rather than added strength.

Exactly! It’s all about the quality of the glue joint.
