Did I Mess Up My Mel’s Mix Without Dish Soap?

Hey everyone! I'm new to gardening and made Mel's Mix for my raised garden bed. I didn't add dish soap to the peat moss, but I did halve the measurements to account for it expanding. Now I'm worried: without the dish soap, will the mix still hold water and expand properly? Am I in trouble with my 33% peat moss ratio? Thanks for your help!

I’ve never used dish soap in my soil mix either, and I don’t think it's necessary. What's your entire mix like? Depending on what you’ve added with the peat, it should still be okay.

Dish soap can work as a surfactant for peat that dries out, helping it to absorb water better. Not something you’d use all the time, but it’s handy if your peat is hydrophobic after being too dry.
