When’s the Best Time to Buy New Tools?

I'm a homeowner and I enjoy doing a lot of DIY projects. I've been using my drill/driver with two 2Ah batteries for years and it's been fantastic. While I've picked up a few cheaper Harbor Freight tools, I realize that low quality can lead to frustration. I'm currently eyeing the DCF850 impact driver, along with a compact router, jigsaw, and palm sander since these are the tools I use the most. Right now, there's a deal for two 5Ah batteries with two tools at Lowe's. Should I keep my current 2Ah batteries since I have them, or will the new tools be too demanding on them? Also, considering we're approaching holidays like the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Black Friday, are there typically better sales around this time? Excited to upgrade my tools, so any advice would be appreciated!

There's always a chance for better deals, no matter the time of year! Battery life really depends on the way you use your tools. If you're just using a drill and impact driver occasionally, your 2Ah batteries should suffice. But for tools that require higher power like routers or grinders, upgrading to 5Ah batteries would be a smart move since they drain quicker. I personally have a mix of batteries to avoid constantly switching them out between my tools, especially when I'm multitasking.

I would definitely grab that Lowe's deal, especially since it includes a sander and router. I got that same package myself and it has been really handy. Just a heads up though, remember you’ll eventually want more batteries, especially for tools that suck up a lot of juice. I think the current deals are as good as you'll find for a while, so I wouldn't hesitate! Plus, having extra batteries is never a bad idea.

The 2Ah batteries work for lighter tools like the impact driver, but for anything more intensive, like the router, a 5Ah is almost a must. I've had similar experiences where the 2Ah just couldn’t keep up with more demanding cuts. As for deals, Lowe's deal with the two free tools is solid. I wouldn't count on significant discounts anytime soon, but keeping those extra batteries will always serve you well. They say more batteries, more power, and I totally agree!
