I'm finally ready to tackle my backyard! The hardscape was done years ago, but all I've got left is a patch of dirt and weeds. I'm aiming to transform it into a low-maintenance paradise with plants and turf, and I'm budgeting around $5,000 to make it happen. I'm really curious about how much others have spent on their backyard projects—what's your experience?

For anyone doing it themselves, I'd say budget about $5 per square foot for plants and necessary supplies. Just keep in mind that even low-maintenance landscaping takes some time to settle in!
Can you share the size of your yard and whether you're doing the work yourself or hiring it out? I've spent quite a bit on my yards, probably around $8,000, but I'm sure it's more if I add it all up!
I initially budgeted $15,000 but ended up spending about $45,000! I did everything myself, and while the DIY aspect was rewarding, I can't even count the beers and Ibuprofen along the way!
Same boat here! I'm nearing the end of year 2 with a budget of $40,000, and I'm thinking of hiring some help, which might push me over $50,000.
This sounds familiar! I'm trying to keep my next round of work under $10,000 but expect it could reach closer to $20,000.

I'm hiring someone because I just don't have the time. I'd rather enjoy my weekends than break my back trying to get it done myself!
