Why Did I Get Banned from a Zinnia Group for Mentioning Pinching?

Hey everyone! I recently found myself banned from a Facebook group dedicated to zinnias, and I can't help but find it both amusing and puzzling. The drama started when I replied to a question about "pinching" zinnias—a technique I learned from a local flower farmer in Western NC to promote branching and fuller blooms. I shared my experience, but the group's moderator deleted my comments and suspended me for the whole summer! It turns out she has her own reasons for disagreeing with pinching, which I totally respect depending on her climate, but I've got to ask... am I crazy for thinking this is an overreaction? Is explaining such gardening techniques really comparable to hate speech? Maybe I should just start my own group called 'Zinnia Growers Unfiltered!' What do you all think?

LOL it's sad but true that a lot of these groups are run by people who enjoy wielding their tiny amount of power. It's not just about gardening; it's the same everywhere! Just remember—you're on the right side of gardening!

It's all about the plants, right? Don't let a moderator's insecurity ruin your passion for gardening. Keep pinching away!

Seriously, this is why I can't stand Facebook gardening groups! They tend to get really catty over differing opinions. By the way, pinching is a great technique. I’ve tried it, and it definitely helps my plants—just ignore the drama! You should definitely start your own group and re-introduce the concept of pinching to those who want to learn!

So true! I'd join your new group for sure. It's always nice to connect with like-minded people who actually want to share tips.

People can be overly controlling when it comes to gardening techniques. It sounds like the moderator has a pretty rigid view on her practices. Just remember, there's no one right way to garden! It's nuts that you got banned for sharing helpful info. Don't let it get you down—keep sharing your knowledge wherever you can!

Exactly! It's like some people think their way is the only way. Just because it works for one doesn't mean it won't work for others.
