I'm planning to mount a TV and I'm wondering if I can get away with just an impact driver, or if I really need a traditional drill. If I grab an impact-rated drill bit for the pilot hole, can I use the impact driver to insert the lag bolts?

You can definitely use either an impact driver or a regular drill for mounting a TV. Just make sure to use hex base drill bits with the impact. For standard wall materials, it should work just fine!
It actually depends on what you're drilling into! If you're going into wood, any decent impact driver should do. Just remember that if you’re working with concrete, it might take longer than a hammer drill. If you're unsure, the power of your drill and the sizes of your pilot holes compared to the lag bolts are crucial factors. But generally, an impact driver can handle it with the right bits!

Thanks for clarifying! So if I'm drilling into a wood panel and hitting a stud, I should be covered with my impact driver?
