Can I Use Twigs and Branches as Mulch for My Garden?

I've been wondering if I can collect small twigs and thin branches during my dog walks to use as mulch instead of spending money on wood chips or bark. It's super convenient since there are loads of them right by my place, and I thought it'd be a nice way to save some cash. Is this a good idea?

Absolutely! I do this all the time with my partner. We take a carrier bag on our dog walks and gather up mossy twigs, leaves, and even some crumbling bark. It’s a bit quirky, but it’s free and eco-friendly! Just take care if you're collecting anything that looks diseased or unusual. It's all good fun!

Yeah, foraging from public land is usually fine, especially if you’re not trying to make a profit. Just enjoy the free stuff!

You should be fine as long as the twigs are healthy! Just keep an eye out for anything that looks sickly or has pests on it.

Haha, I can relate! If they ever try to ban men from collecting good sticks, there will be chaos in the streets!

Just remember not to collect if you have a puppy that’s not fully vaccinated yet. There’s a risk with parvovirus, so better safe than sorry!
