How Can I Keep My Flowerbed Safe from the Neighborhood Cat?

I don't generally mind when the neighborhood cat visits my yard since it helps with rodent control. However, lately, it seems like this cat has taken a liking to lounging in my flowerbed, particularly in my impatiens, and it has flattened out a 2-foot area. I'm looking for effective and simple ways to discourage the cat from making my flowerbed its resting spot. I've heard that ultrasonic repellents can be hit-or-miss, so I'm curious if there are other options like scents that cats dislike or commercial repellents that actually work.
