Hey everyone! I'm in the process of crafting a desk from a gorgeous maple slab. One edge of the slab has a live edge and is not square, plus there's a void in the center that I want to fill with epoxy. However, there's a crack that extends outside of the slab, which means if I just fill it normally, the epoxy will leak out. I've tried different methods to seal it, but the irregular shape makes it tough to use a standard mold. Does anyone have any creative ideas for making a watertight mold that can accommodate this non-square edge?

You might want to check out BlackTailStudios' YouTube videos. They specialize in epoxy tables and often have practical tips for unique shapes. He might have faced a similar issue and found a solution!
It would really help if you could share some pics of your slab! Seeing the design and the area you're trying to work with would give us a better idea of how to help. It's hard to visualize without some visuals, you know?
Great idea! Here’s a pic of the crack I’m dealing with: https://preview.redd.it/kybdmqqqnwke1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=405ccc23c1654e0a71737a849ddad00db1540aa6

I watched a few of his videos, but he mostly does square shapes where he builds a box around it. What about using some flexible plastic or even a gardening edge for your mold? You could seal everything with caulk to make it watertight!
