I'm trying to figure out the best way to get rid of a brush that I used for applying polyurethane. I've found a lot of info about disposing of rags, but I'm not sure if it's the same process for brushes. I'm a bit worried about the brush sitting with poly in it and possibly generating heat. I know rags can be laid out and tossed after drying for a few days, but what should I do with the brush?

Just so you know, oil-based polyurethane doesn’t really generate a lot of heat as it dries, unlike other finishes. If you're concerned, you can wipe off the excess poly with a rag and just let the brush sit out in the sun for a bit.
I usually clean my brush with mineral spirits and hang it up to dry. That way, I can use it for my next project instead of throwing it away. It’s a good way to save some money and resources!

Yeah, I agree! Plus, it’s not like you’re dealing with linseed oil, which can get pretty hot. Just be careful and you should be fine!
