Hey everyone,
I recently had some asbestos dust in my kids' room due to window installation, so I decided to hire a professional abatement company to clean it up. However, after they finished, I noticed some dust still stuck in the window sills and fibers left on the walls from the cleaning rags they used. I tried cleaning it myself, but given how much I paid, I feel like I shouldn't have to deal with it. The company offered to send the same two guys back to reclean, but I'm not feeling comfortable with that since they didn't do a great job initially. I'm really worried about my kids' health—am I being too paranoid? Should I just take matters into my own hands and clean it myself, or should I let the same team come back?

Honestly, if those two guys managed to get about 90% of the asbestos out, a second clean could get you even closer to a complete cleanup. Just have a chat with them when they come back and express your concerns. If it makes you feel better, asking for different employees for the reclean could be worth it! You have every right to ensure it’s done properly.
First thing you should do is reach out to your local environmental department. They can provide guidance or assistance if needed. If they can't help, going to the state or even the EPA for accurate info could be your next step. It's better to have all your bases covered!
I think you're right to be cautious, especially with your kids involved. They did come up with a fair solution by offering a reclean, but if you're not comfortable with the same guys returning, it's okay to voice your concerns. Remember, it's your family's health at stake here! Don't hesitate to push for a different team if that will ease your mind.
