Looking for Hybrid Inverter Recommendations for My Solar Setup

I'm working on a solar build that includes 30 solar panels rated at 450 watts each, divided into three uneven strings, totaling about 13.5 kW. I believe I need a hybrid inverter with three MPPTs. I also have an electric vehicle (EV) that can function as a generator, but it only provides a maximum output of 1.8 kW. I want to make sure the inverter I choose can handle this low power input, and I'll eventually add batteries to my system. Additionally, it's essential for me to sell excess energy back to the grid. Given these requirements, what kind of inverter would you recommend? Would it be more effective to use batteries and charge them with my car in the event of a prolonged power outage?

What’s your primary goal? Are you looking to power your home solely with the car and panels, especially during outages? If 18 kW isn't enough, how much power do you actually need? This will help determine the best inverter solution for you!

If you're working with a split-phase 120/240V hybrid inverter and your generator (or V2L) only outputs at 120V, you'll need a separate charger to charge the batteries directly. Most hybrid inverters prefer to power your home loads first and then use any surplus to charge the batteries. I have a Schneider XW Pro inverter set up like this with great success—just protect your connections!

That's exactly the info I needed! So the V2L setup is just to charge the batteries as needed and won't connect directly to the inverter? No generator plug? That's super helpful!

The EG4 Flexboss 18/21 is a solid choice for your solar setup; it will handle your panels without any issues. For integrating an underpowered generator like your EV, you'll need to get a chargeverter (which runs around $500). A lot of folks pair it with a smart gateway for optimal grid interaction. Check this out for an idea of setup!
