Why Are So Many Mattresses Sagging So Quickly?

Asked By CuriousTraveler92 On

I've recently purchased three different mattresses over the last six months, and all of them have started sagging way too soon. I mean, I'm not heavy at all, and these weren't exactly cheap options. In fact, I noticed that the support significantly declined just days after getting them. I always thought a good mattress should last for years, not just weeks! I could return them, but now I'm nervous about choosing another one. Does anyone know how I can ensure that my next mattress will hold up better? They all felt perfect in the store, but things changed fast once I got them home.

It might be worth considering a box spring or a new bed frame. Honestly, a lot of modern mattresses are pretty decent, so it shouldn't be happening like this unless something's off.

What kind of mattresses are you buying? I picked up a budget memory foam one from Amazon, and it's held up great for five years. Maybe it’s just the brands you’re looking at?

Yeah, same here! Sometimes paying a bit less is still a good choice if you pick the right one.

Are you sure there's not an issue with your bed frame? Sometimes that can affect how well the mattress performs and might lead to sagging.

You might want to consider switching to a full memory foam mattress, like the Nectar. They tend to be more comfortable and usually end up being cheaper in the long run. If you want to keep your current mattress, you could also try adding a 3-inch memory foam topper for added support.

Totally agree! I switched to a memory foam mattress for $300, and I can't even sleep on hotel beds anymore—they just can't compare!

I've got a Certa hybrid mattress that I paid about $3k for, and it's still in great shape after two years. I can't really comment on lower-tier options, but maybe investing a bit more will help!
