Strange Leaf Damage: Caterpillars or Something Else?

Hey everyone! I've been living in Houston for about three years after moving from Seattle, and I've come across something odd while pruning my plants. I've never seen leaf damage like this before. I'm curious if anyone has dealt with something similar. Could this be caused by insects like caterpillars? Should I just rip the affected plants out, or is there treatment I should consider? And, just throwing it out there, should I check for any unusual marks on my body? Kidding! But seriously, any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yep, looks like something might have taken a bite while the leaves were still unfurling. Keep an eye out for any pests. Glad it’s not just me who's seen this weirdness every year!

I appreciate the input! It really is strange—definitely not something I noticed before moving.

Could be a combination of pests or environmental factors like the sun. Just make sure not to lean the plants against anything that could cause them to burn. It could even be a case of too much light focusing on them. Whatever it is, keep a lookout for any changes!

Great tip! I'll pay closer attention to the light. Thanks!

That kind of problem with the leaves is often caused by caterpillars chewing on them, especially if you've got something like *Canna* plants. They tend to roll the leaves up when they munch on them. You might wanna check for those little guys and maybe treat the plants if needed. Don't stress too much, it happens to a lot of us!

Thanks for confirming! I've seen similar issues and caterpillars are usually the culprits.
