I'm planning to buy some standing desk legs, and I have a solid oak desktop that I want to attach to them. I'm looking for the best way to securely fasten the desktop to the frame, ensuring it's sturdy yet simple enough to disassemble since I move every 2-3 years. I was considering using threaded inserts, but I'm open to other suggestions too!

You could go with wood screws that are a bit shorter than the thickness of the top. A neat trick is to rub the threads with dry bar soap or a candle before screwing them in; it makes taking them out much easier later on!

But won't constantly screwing and unscrewing weaken the wood over time compared to using inserts?
