My garage door has been acting strange lately. When I press the button on my remote or the wall, it only goes down about a foot before it opens back up again. However, if I hold the button until it reaches the ground, it stays down. I'm not sure where to start looking for the issue. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Are the lights on your garage door opener flashing when it stops? Most systems have a laser that shoots across the door's opening. If that laser is interrupted, the door won’t close and the lights will start blinking. You might just need to tweak it a little for better alignment to ensure it stays in line while vibrating.
It sounds like you might have a problem with a light sensor. Sometimes when the garage door activates, it can cause vibrations that move the sensor or emitter out of alignment. It's worth checking to see if everything is properly positioned.
There are typically two main issues that can cause a garage door to reopen like that. One is a photo-electric eye at the door's bottom which should have a blinking LED if obstructed. The other could be a closing force sensor, which helps prevent accidents. You could try manually opening the door with the release rope to see if it moves easily – if not, there might be an issue with the springs, or you could have a broken pulley or cable.
