Can I Get Home Improvement Quotes Without Committing to a Timeline?

Hey everyone! My family and I are finally considering some renovations for our two-story house with a basement. We have some major projects in mind, like replacing the roof and siding, and raising the kitchen floor because we think the joists need sistering. We also have tons of ideas for things like kitchen remodeling, adding ceiling fans and recessed lighting, replacing windows, and even opening up some walls. Here's the thing – we're not ready to start these projects just yet, but we'd love to get quotes for our ideas. Are there contractors or professionals who would come out to provide estimates even if we're not planning to proceed right away? I'm okay with paying for their time since we're looking for genuine expertise, and I want to avoid wasting anyone's time or getting pushed into a hard sell. Thanks!

Starting with an architect might be your best bet. They can help you formulate a cohesive plan and often provide a rough budget for your ideas. Even if you’re not set on major design changes, an architect can assess load-bearing walls and help clarify what’s doable without getting lost in the details.

I never thought about an architect for this! Is it still useful if I just need to double-check a few walls for load-bearing status?
