Hey everyone! My wife recently used Roundup Dual Action (the 4-month formula) to spot treat areas in our mulched garden bed, and after she did it, she found out that we need to wait four months before planting anything. I'm really eager to get some new trees and ornamentals in there, like Japanese maples, junipers, and some forest grass. I was thinking about digging a hole, mixing in some Fox Farms soil conditioner in a 2:1 ratio with the existing soil, and adding a little bit of their Japanese maple fertilizer. My question is: since she only spot treated around the mulch and didn't cover the whole area, is it safe for me to plant now, or should I still hold off for the full four months due to the risk of Roundup contamination? Thanks for your help!

I’d recommend waiting the four months if you can. Roundup can linger in the soil and even if it was a spot treatment, there’s a chance the area around could still be affected. Better safe than sorry when it comes to planting your new trees!
It might be okay to plant if she only spot treated and not blanket sprayed, but caution is key. You could also consider doing a soil test before planting. This way you’ll know for sure if there’s any residual Roundup lurking around.
Definitely a good idea! A soil test could give you peace of mind. Just make sure to dig deep enough to get a good sample!

Yeah, I agree! It’s tough to wait, but those chemicals can really throw a wrench in your plants' growth.
