Hey everyone! So, we recently discovered a leak under our toilet and had to remove it. We hired someone to repair the subfloor and install new tiles, but I noticed a problem. The new tiles are sitting about half an inch above the toilet flange, and the cuts around the flange are a bit messy, leaving gaps. From my research, it seems like the flange should actually be above the tile. I'm considering getting a flange extender, but I'm worried it might not be enough and those gaps will still be there. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this? Thanks!

I wasn’t planning on doing any plumbing myself either until I faced a major issue. I found the flange and lead collar were totally shot. After a lot of trial and error with wax seals, I discovered the Flex-On Toilet Flange, which is a flexible extension that fits inside the pipe and adjusts for elevation. It’s been a game changer! No messy wax involved, and it even came with shims. Seriously, it made my toilet work like new again. Check it out if you want to avoid dealing with wax altogether!
This is a common issue, and you're right about the flange needing to be above the tile. One solution is to use an extension wax ring in conjunction with the standard one. The tile cuts don’t have to be perfectly round as long as the toilet covers any imperfections once it’s installed. Just make sure it seals properly to avoid future leaks!

Thanks for the suggestion! Just to clarify, are you saying I should definitely use two wax rings? I’ve heard that could lead to problems down the road.
