I've been a homeowner for almost three years now, and surprisingly, I've never actually ventured into our attic. While it's been inspected and worked on by professionals such as an inspector, electrician, and an air sealing company, it hasn't gone untouched completely. Recently, I woke up to a noise that sounded larger than a mouse scurrying around frantically, almost like something is trying to escape. I stopped hearing the noise after a while, but now I'm really curious about how it got up there in the first place. It's acceptable to have the occasional mouse, but what if it's something bigger? Any suggestions on how to explore up there without risking a fall through the ceiling?

Or maybe it’s just Clark Griswold up there watching old family movies! But seriously, better safe than sorry.
You might want to consider calling in a critter control professional. They’re usually way better at identifying entry points and can help trap and remove any larger animals without causing damage to your home. Trust me, it’s worth it!
Sounds like it could be a squirrel! Setting a trap in the attic might help you catch whatever it is.
Just a heads-up, unless there’s a catwalk, be sure to only step on the joists when you go up there. Safety first!
If you're really unsure, it might be best to hire someone to check it out. You wouldn't believe how much damage even a small critter can do! And make sure to seal up any entry points afterward.

Thanks for the tip! I think I'll look into hiring someone. I definitely don’t want to deal with any potential damage.
