I'm really torn about growing daylilies (hemerocallis) since I have a cat. I've done a ton of research but still feel confused. On one hand, vets and cat care sites swear that daylilies are super toxic to cats and can be deadly. On the other hand, I've seen gardeners online claiming they own daylily farms and have multiple cats that munch on them without any problem. I've also noticed lots of neighborhood cats strolling around where daylilies are planted, and they seem fine. I just want to ensure my cat's safety and want to clarify that I'm only asking about hemerocallis, not any other types of lilies. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Yeah, hemerocallis is indeed toxic to cats. Every part of the plant is harmful, including the pollen, so it's something to be really cautious about. Better safe than sorry!

But if you check out sites like garden.org, tons of people say they've kept daylilies and cats together without any issues. How do you explain that?
