Why Do Photos Taken Under Grow Lights Look So Weird?

I've noticed that pictures of plants taken under grow lights often have this strange purple tinge, making it really difficult to see the details. Maybe it's just me, but they all start to look the same! I don't have much experience with grow lights, so I'm curious—why can't people just turn them off while snapping photos? Wouldn't that make for better images?

I can't believe people still use those purple grow lights! They just ruin the look of the plants in photos. And it’s not like they capture anything useful with those colors. But I guess when you turn them off, the light is super dim in the room, so it keeps you stuck between a purple picture or a dark one.

Totally get what you mean! Those purple lights really flatten out any detail in the photos. It’s like trying to see your plants under a black light—everything blends together. I usually just scroll past them when I see that weird hue.

If you have your seedlings under those lights, it might be good to let everyone know that full spectrum lights are much better for growth. Most folks don't realize that the creepy purple hue doesn’t help anyone see what’s going on with the plants. I do understand the struggle though—take the purple out, and you’re left with a dark photo!
