How Should I Insulate My Garage With Vents?

I'm looking to insulate my garage, which has two vents near the ground on the exterior walls, similar to what you'd find in a crawl space. I don't want to leave the insulation exposed behind these vents. I'm considering sealing them up with some siding. What do you think about that approach?

First off, it’s important to know if your garage is detached or attached. Since you mentioned it’s attached and already has a gas water heater and furnace, it might be beneficial to manage ventilation properly. Sealing off the vents completely could lead to moisture issues, especially if you want to eventually heat and cool the garage. Instead of slapping siding on, consider checking if those vents can be adjusted or capped temporarily while you insulate. You might want some airflow, so just sealing isn’t the best bet.

Thanks for the tip! I definitely don’t want any moisture problems. I’ll look into capping them or adjusting instead of just sealing.
