What Do I Need to Hardwire a Mini Split in My Shed?

I'm setting up a mini split air conditioner in my shed, which already has power. I'm planning to run about 100 feet of 10/2 underground wire to connect it. Is it okay to just hardwire the 10-gauge wire directly to the mini split, or do I need to install some sort of receptacle outside first?

Hey! I’m not an electrician, but from what I understand, it’s probably a good idea to run the line into a junction box in the shed and then connect to the mini split from there. You might also want to consider setting up a separate circuit with one for lights and another for power, similar to what I did for my pool pump installation. Just makes things safer and tidier!

If you're running it from your service panel with a 20 amp breaker, that should be adequate. I get that your shed's already powered, and you don’t want to disrupt that setup!
