What’s the Current State of the Landscaping Business?

I'm looking for insights from landscaping business owners about their current experiences. What are the major challenges you're facing right now? Are there any goals or milestones you hope to achieve that haven't happened yet? Any honest feedback would really help me with my project.

For me, the biggest issue right now is the rain. It's supposed to be super hot and dry, but we're getting rain about three times a week. It's too wet to cut sod or screen soil, which really slows things down. When we do get a dry day, we can’t get deliveries because all the vendors are backed up. We've had a great year overall, but if the rain would just stop, we could be making so much more money!

I also have a bit of a challenge with my crew. They seem to think that working from 8-4, Monday to Friday, is the best they can do, and they want to be paid for rain days too. But they aren't keen on working weekends at all, which complicates things. It’s tough to motivate them when they have that mindset!

That sounds frustrating! Thanks for sharing your perspective!

Could you explain why you think a standard Mon-Fri, 8-4 schedule isn’t enough? I don't mean to pry, just trying to understand. I once had a boss who was super confused about this as well!
