How long should a small bathroom renovation usually take for one or two people?

I'm in the middle of renovating a small bathroom in my 1960's house, and it's feeling like it's taking forever! I've done a fair bit of home renovations before, but this one is really testing my patience. The bathroom is tiny, measuring about 8'x6', and I'm doing it all myself, down to the studs. So far, I've spent 6.5 days on demo and prep work, including getting the plumbing sorted and preparing to put up drywall. I'm wondering how long a project like this normally takes for someone who's doing it alone or with just one other person. I'd love to hear some realistic timelines!

It really depends on how you’re working. Are you putting in full days or just a few hours after work? A skilled person could wrap up a small bathroom renovation in about 5 days if they're dedicated and working efficiently. So if you'd been working full time on it, you might be approaching a standard timeline!

I'm about 3 or 4 hours at a time during the week, but the last few days I managed some full days.

The biggest question is, do you have another bathroom available? If not, that can definitely add to the stress and frustration while you're renovating. Thank goodness you've got one! That'll make things a lot easier on you while you work.

Haha, yes! That’s a lifesaver for sure.

Honestly, I stopped trying to pin down a timeline for DIY projects. Now I just remind myself that 'it takes as long as it takes.' You're in charge of everything by yourself, which means it'll naturally take longer. Just focus on completing one step at a time, and you’ll feel less pressured about the total time taken.
